The Kidco Community Centre at Kids Korner in south east Edmonton is located across form Keeheewin Elementary School (which our school aged children are walked to and from daily). We offer full time programs for children 12 months to 12 years of age, with five classrooms and a capacity of 85 children.
Kids Korner is a licensed and accredited centre with high quality child care that embraces the individuality and diversity of each child and family in a safe and nurturing environment. Our learning through play approach is filled with creative activities to help minds, bodies, emotions and social skills develop. Our caregivers are trained to program and facilitate activities based on the children’s interests and events happening in the world that surrounds them. They are experts in their field, trained in early childhood education as well as safety standards, first-aid and CPR.
You’ll feel welcomed at our centre from the moment you step in. Our director and staff are a close-knit group with a passion for teaching and having fun with our kids and families. The summer months are filled with a wide variety of experiences and field trips for our afterschool children. The spacious outdoor space provides children with many opportunities for them to explore the world around them. We have several gardens and flower beds where the children help plant, water and take care of the garden.
We offer lunch and snacks from our Kidco Kitchen Menu that are nutritious and well balanced. Our menu is developed to address the nutritional needs of growing children and to comply with the most recent version of Canada’s Food Guide. All snacks and meals are served at appropriate times in age-appropriate serving sizes.
We pride ourselves on flexible, reliable child care that kids love and parents trust. Our rates are competitive and qualifying families can receive subsidy at our centre. Contact the Centre Director or click here for more information from Alberta Child and Youth Services.

Meet The Director
My name is Markijana and I am co-director of our Kids Korner location. I have an early childhood education certificate and will receive my diploma in July. I have been working in childcare for six years but I have worked with children in other setting as well. In my free time I manage, coach, and play on a women’s soccer team. I also coach a young girls soccer team. I am also a Ukrainian dancer and have been doing this for twenty years. Aside from Ukrainian dancing, I have 15 years of ballet training. This might come as a surprise to those who know me because I have terrible balance!
My favourite part about working with children is watching them explore new materials. I am intrigued by the imagination and creativity that children have at a young age. At the centre, we are slowly leaning towards using more natural materials and loose parts, to ensure that the children will be provided with open-ended activities and have the opportunity to use their imagination.
My name is Chloe Seran Byun. I am co-director of Kids Korner location. I have been working in the field of child care for 15 years. I have Alberta child development supervisor certificate. I have a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, child social welfare, English literature, and I am currently studying for a bachelor’s degree in business and early childhood education. I used to be an athlete in track and field sprint and swimming when I was young and I still like sports a lot. Exercise always brings me a lot of energy and I hope to encourage this vigour with the children through various types of physical activity in our centre.
I am happiest when I get a lot of positive energy from children and my hope is to always have a positive impact on the children in my care. Because children should always have fun, I try to plan programs with this focus in mind and strongly believe in helping them learn through play. I also aim to instill an understanding and respect of diversity in today’s society as I believe it is very important for both the development of civilization and the future of our children.
Here, at Kids Korner, we are pleased to offer a meal program which includes 2 daily snacks and daily hot lunch. The staff are great problem solvers and are always communicating with each other on how we can improve as a centre and how we can better meet the children’s needs. They are always putting the children first and they strive to create meaningful relationships with the children and their families.
Now that you know a bit more about us, we would love to meet you! We hope you come visit, and see for yourself how Kidco Community can provide the right care and education for your child.
